Another legend gone… 😦 With a truly great sadness we in 8bit legends report that the danish coder and musician
Johannes Bjerregaard (Jozz/Maniacs of noise) has died at the age of 52, due to colon cancer, on November 2 2022. Johannes was amongst the absolute best musicians on c64 ever. Truly talented and creative. He will be missed by all of us .
no one in the golden age can forget so many remarkable tunes like: Nightdawn , Stormlord and much more he did back in the 80s . Johannes was also the founder of Danish Music Company in 1988.
Condolences to his family. Your music will rule forever!!

Johannes Bjerregaard, a native of Denmark, wasa creative jazz improviser who first made his musical mark on the world by joining the pioneers of video game music composers in the early generations of home computers. He lived in Copenhagen and studied at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory before moving to Texas in 2000. After several years of touring the world on cruise ships with the Les DeMerle jazz quartet, Johannes worked as an independent commercial and jazz musician around the Lubbock, Texas area. Johannes Bjerregaard made excellent and exceptional tunes on the C64 during the late 80’s , his tunes are too many to mention but the famous are: Tiger Mission published by Kele Line 1987 , Sweet on 1988 , Stormlord together with Jeroen Tel , Special Agent published by Firebird 1988, Can’t Stop a TOTO cover of “Stop Loving You” , Flimobo’s quest together with Reyn Ouwehand , Nightdawn published by Magic Bytes 1989 , Rosanna another fabelous TOTO cover , Shape 1988 , Chase ,MACH published by Starvision 1987 , Thunderforce published by Hewson 1987 . his music was heavily used in C64 demos, games, music collections and C64 crack intros.
Thank you Johannes for all the joyful moments while listening to your SIDs Johannes. you were exceptional and a true legendarty C64 Musician , you will be missed a lot.

  1. Sad to hear this great C64 musician passed away.

    It’s still good entertainment to listen to his “SIDiography” with catchy tunes, tunes with awesome melodies and gimmicks like the best C64 “heavy metal” track.

    The soundtrack to the 1987 game “Tiger Mission” is an example I already enjoyed when I was boy.

  2. For sure we lost one of the greatest C64 musician ever. What he did with the SID chip back then was truly amazing stuff and the memory of those synthetic sounds will remain embended in us forever. Thank you for all the memories.
